Safety Phrases

S7/8 Keep container tightly closed and dry.

S26 In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and contact a doctor or .

S28:SOHYSU After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water.

S43:SOHYSU In case of fire use foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. DO NOT use water directly on fire.

4.3 Spills and Disposal

Spills

Remove all sources of ignition - NO SMOKING. Wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.

Disposal

Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility.

4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire / Explosion

Flammable solid. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Reacts with water. Stable under normal ambient temperatures and pressures. Avoid mechanical shock, incompatible materials, ignition sources, exposure to air, contact with water. Incompatible with strong oxidising agents, strong acids, air and moisture. Hazardous polymerisation has not been reported. Hazardous decomposition products include carbon monoxide, oxides of sulphur, and carbon dioxide. Decomposition temperature is 135 deg C. Dusts at sufficient concentrations can form explosive mixtures with air. Material will react with water and may release a flammable and/or toxic gas.

Extinguishing Media

Do not use water directly on fire. Use foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide type extinguishers. Use media/equipment appropriate to surrounding fire conditions. Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self- contained breathing apparatus.

5 OTHER INFORMATION

Other Information

Environment : inorganic product with strong reducing effect which oxidises in solution due to atmospheric oxygen. In acidic media hydrosulphite decomposes to form mainly sulphur dioxide and sulphur. Bacteria toxicity (DEV-L3) : no inhibitory effect of the dehydrogenase activity at < 20 mg/L. Fish toxicity : LC50 = 10 - 100 mg/L/48h (golden orfe) COD : 210 mg O2/g product
